Vacuum sealing and storing in bags

Storabis and OutCo, the cannabis company, have joined forces to further explore the possibilities to vacuum seal and store cannabis in order to both improve the quality and extend the shelf life of the produce.

Main conclusion: Vacuum sealing cannabis, whether or not under controlled atmosphere, has a positive effect on the concentration of both cannabinoids and terpenes.

Gas flush
Modified Atmospheric Packaging or MAP

Gas flush

Gas flush is standard on all Storabis series. Adding a gas offers extra protection, maintains the quality and extends the shelf life of the produce. It's usually a mixture of gas, depending on the product. Your distributor can inform you best which is the optimum mixture for your requirements.

Cannabinoids, terpenes and decarboxylation

Advantages

Vacuum sealing without adding any gas and vacuum sealing under nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2) have a positive effect on the concentrations and development of cannabinoids and terpenes in the produce. After a while, the produce even cures itself when packed. The more flavor, the better the quality. Furthermore, vacuum sealing under controlled atmosphere improves decarboxylation. Use CO2, N2 or Argon to achieve the best results.

  • Increased shelf life
  • Preservation of quality
  • Protection of structure
  • Prevention of colouring

Use vacuum bags in case of sealing with gas

Vacuum packing cannabis in bags, adding CO2, N2 or Argon, extends the shelf life, cures the produce when packed and improves decarboxylation. When using bags, gas flush is a possible storage solution. When using jars, gas flush is not.
